Brass dial shelf clock, 1790-1795.

Mahogany shelf clock with a molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved pinwheels topped with three brass urn-and-flame finials. Top section with sidelights with astragal tops, fluted pilasters at front corners, inlaid fans at the upper corners, inlaid stepped ornament at bottom center and a glazed door with an astragal top. Bottom section with fluted pilasters at four corners, a rectangular door with an applied molded arch supported on fluted pilasters and a molded stepped base. Engraved dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, and the inscription "Danl Balch Jnr. Newbury Port" in the lunette. Forty-eight hour movement.
